Why choose us and how are we different?
The biggest difference between a medical fitness center and another type of gym or fitness facility is that the medical fitness center focuses on overall wellness instead of just fitness. It's possible to be physically fit, or working toward physical fitness, and still experience ill health. The purpose of a medical fitness center isn't just to help clients lose weight or gain muscle, but to help them manage their health. Medical fitness facilities use evidence based practices to reduce unwanted variations. This means that all our corrective exercise programs and rehab programs follow techniques that are scientifically proven through extensive research studies, and backed by organizations including The National Academy of Sports medicine, International Board of nutrition and Fitness, and RedCord to name a few.
We collaborate with Medical Doctors, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, Registered Dieticians, and licensed Medical Massage Therapists to offer you a comprehensive solution for your unique situation. Gyms and fitness centers that aren't medically guided may not follow correct procedures, and therefore may not be safe or effective. Many of the programs in these types of gyms tend to be based on what the public perceives as "the new thing", a fad, or what feels right to them. At our medical fitness facility, the staff is qualified and certified to teach sound techniques for improving one's life quality, and does not allow unsupported trends and fads to effect what they do. We will never sell you a product or service that has not been backed by medical science.
What also separates us is our approach to wellness. We use an Eastern Medicine approach to total wellness emphasizing preventative care to not let it happen in the first place, as apposed to a reactive approach (Western Medicine). We believe in, and practice preventative medicine. We provide traditional AND alternative therapy solutions to give you a more comprehensive and effective solution. We look at the body as a complete kinetic chain, and find the "Root" cause of you pain, not the symptom where the pain ended up. Once you find the TRUE source you will live a pain-free life and be able to do the things you have always wanted to do at any age! We are the next logical step upon completion of any physical therapy program before going back to a regular mainstream fitness center or local gym.
Who can benefit from a Medical Exercise Center?
While anyone can benefit from an evidence-based approach to fitness, medical fitness centers are particularly beneficial to those with pre-existing health conditions, like diabetes or heart disease. Individuals living with these conditions should absolutely work on becoming more fit, but they also have to act with caution. Fad diets or overly ambitious exercise regimens could prove very dangerous for someone living with one of these conditions. Medical oversight ensures that these clients can pursue fitness in a safe manner.
Medical fitness centers are also ideal for clients who have never before seriously participated in a fitness regimen. Inexperienced clients are in danger of trying to do too much too fast or falling victim to unsafe fads and trends. Medical oversight mixed with proper fitness training can help these clients take their first steps toward an active lifestyle.
More than just exercise
A vital component of medical fitness centers is their focus on lifestyle factors as well as exercise. At a medical fitness center, a client will receive input on lifestyle changes beyond just exercising. Dietary changes, stress relief methods, and preventative medicine are all important focus points at a medical fitness center.
In addition to employing their own medical health professionals, the staff at a medical wellness center will be able to communicate with a client's primary care physician in order to ensure continuity of care. This means that everyone responsible for the client's health and well-being will be on the same page.
We will meet with you for an initial consultation. We will assess your current condition(s), posture, spine, strength, range of motion, cardiovascular, nutrition, and any muscle imbalances that may need to be addressed in your own personal program. We design programs that promote overall wellness with the human movement system in mind. We teach you the correct form and stretching techniques to improve your muscle imbalances, eliminate pain, decrease your risk of injury, and build muscle. Our synergistic approach to training will maximize your results. We're the best in the area and we'll prove it! Give us a try and see how convenient training can be. Please be our guest and sign up for a free consultation. You will be glad you did.

Mike Hardy - Founder of Medical Fitness and Wellness Group
Mike Hardy is a Medical and Corrective Exercise Specialist, a Certified Personal trainer, a certified Nutrition Coach, as well as the founder of Medical Fitness and Wellness Group, an exercise and wellness company based in Johns Creek, Georgia. He holds a Masters degree in Exercise Science and Rehabilitation. His certifications are from three of the most respected and recognized credentialing organizations in the world and he has over 10 years experience in the exercise and fitness industry.
Mike's journey with physical fitness began in college 28 years ago when one of his friends who was an avid weight lifter and boxer convinced him to go to the campus gym with him one day. Mike quickly embraced the lifestyle and the health benefits exercising gave him, not just from a physical standpoint, but from a wellness standpoint as well. Shortly after, Mike became certified as a Personal Trainer, and was on staff with LA Fitness for several years where a master trainer introduced him to a whole new approach of functional and core training. While attending school for his Masters in Exercise Science and rehabilitation, Mike had the opportunity to work for a Medical Exercise company in Duluth, Georgia, where he learned from the best in the business in the way of Medical and Corrective Exercise. Several years later Mike decided to open his own mobile personal training business training clients in their homes, and his company, New Strength Dynamics was formed. Finally, with an increasingly busy client schedule, Mike decided to move to the next level and add a physical location in Johns Creek, Georgia, now called Medical Fitness and Wellness Group, and has been in operation since 2014.
Mike is certified through the following organizations:
- American College of Sports Medicine (Exercise is Medicine credential)
- National Academy of Sports Medicine (Corrective Exercise Specialist)
- American Council on Exercise (Certified Personal Trainer)
- TRX Group Suspension Training Certification
- International Board of Fitness and Nutrition Coaching (IBNFC) Certified Nutrition Coach
Mike lives with his wife Zohreh, family, and family dog and cat (Gracie and Persia) in Cumming Georgia. His current activites include fitness, kickboxing, mountain biking, golf, travel, and indulging in a fine glass of red wine (in moderation of course :D).
